Bamenda airport open for first international flight in many years.

The Bamenda international airport which has not been functional for more than 20years has been opened once more to international flights. For now most flights shall be heading from neighboring La Republique du Cameroun major airports of Douala and Yaounde. As of yesterday the first plane touched down at the tarmac runway of Bamenda international Airpot (BPC).  Bamenda population awaits  the first step towards the restoration of the state of Ambazonia as international airport is very important as a transport and transit hub and port of entry in dealing with the international community.
The first flights this year will be from neighboring  CamairCo airlines which is a national flag bearer of the Republic of Cameroon. The last time Bamenda received an international flight was from the defunct Cameroon airlines of La Republique du Cameroun more than 20 years ago.  CamairCo announced that there will be at least three flights a week ie; Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Bamenda international airport has witnessed personalities like the late pope John Paul II who landed in the airport in 1985 and also said a mass at the BPC when he visited the two Cameroons. Also Prince Charles and Lady Diana landed in March 1990.

The interim government of Ambazonia is working towards the restoration of the almost swallowed Ambazonia or Southern Cameroons state by La Republique du Cameroun and her partner France. With plans to re-open the two international airports;   Bamenda and Tiko international airports. Tiko international airport once served flights from Africa, Europe and the Americas.

Some Facts about Bamenda Airport (BPC):

Bamenda Airport (BPC) currently has only 1 runway.
The furthest airport from Bamenda Airport (BPC) is Canton Island Airport (CIS), which is nearly antipodal to Bamenda Airport (meaning Bamenda Airport is almost on the exact opposite side of the Earth from Canton Island Airport), and is located 12,178 miles (19,599 kilometers) away in Canton Island, Kiribati.
The closest airport to Bamenda Airport (BPC) is Bali Airport (BAJ), which is located only 12 miles (19 kilometers) SSW of BPC.

Because of Bamenda Airport's high elevation of 4,065 feet, planes must typically fly at a faster airspeed in order to takeoff or land at BPC. Combined with a high temperature, this could make BPC a "Hot & High" airport, where the air density is lower than it would otherwise be at sea level.
